I hate the system I swore to uphold.

Cops lie.
Judges empower cops.
Prosecutors trust cops.
Juries believe cops.
Defense attorneys go bald.
Defendants go to jail.
Welcome to American Justice.

So ... prove it. Isn't that the best way to uphold the system – to demonstrate where others are chipping away at it? Isn't that the whole point of an adversarial criminal justice system?

    I'm a non-lawyer, though, so maybe I don't get it.

Nope. The whole point of an adversarial justice system is truth, justice and the rest of the crap we have chosen to believe.

The reality goes something like this:

Attorney: Judge that was a bad stop. The cop followed her until she pulled over in a parking lot. He waited 10 minutes for her to come into the street. When she turned into the street and started driving again, he continued to follow her. She veered and then he stopped her for DUI.

Judge: The officer says she almost his the utility pole, so I am going to agree with the officer.

Attorney: Judge, if you look at the tape, you will see that she didn't even cross the line or hit the sidewalk. How can she almost hit the utility pole if she didn't even touch the sidewalk. Not to mention that there is 3-5 foot SIDEWALK between the street and the pole.

Judge: Well, I have seen the video and it's not clear from the video so I am going to side with the officer.
